Another boutique hotel planned in Greenwich

A planning application which includes a new 30 bedroom boutique hotel has been submitted to Greenwich Council.

The new hotel would form part of a large mixed use development from the Cathedral Group which would also include hundreds of residential apartments and student accommodation units, a 100 bed three star hotel, a gym, shops and office space.

The large development would be built on a disused industrial area behind Greenwich High Road.

The new application for a boutique hotel follows soon behind the news that Greenwich Market owners have won the right to build a 100 boutique hotel in the face of bitter opposition from the local council.

It was also revealed recently by a  hyperlocal blog that Greenwich restaurant and bar owner, Frank Dowling, is considering opening a 20 bedroom boutique hotel in the town centre.

The spurt of new boutique hotels coincides with a flurry of new hotels generally in Greenwich, including a large “four star plus” hotel next to the O2, which is looking to capitalise on its role as an Olympic Borough.
