Boutique hotel in South Derbyshire approved

South Derbyshire council has given the go-ahead to a new boutique hotel in Willington.

The ten bedroom hotel forms part of a new development at Mercia Marina which will also include a gastro pub, spa and pool.

At the core of the development’s design is a four storey, octagonal “lighthouse” which will offer visitors exceptional views across the marina.

Developers came up with the proposals with local designers, Pinelog, who specialise in using natural materials and who have incorporated wood cladding in their design.

Nautical design elements, in keeping with the marina location, will be present throughout the interior, according to the planning application which was approved by the council’s planning officers last week.
